About Black Gold Farms

Jim and Jan Jones head up a family operation, trading as Black Gold Farms and are located just outside Ayr in the Burdekin Shire of North Queensland.

Five generations have managed cattle and grown sugar cane on Seaforth Station which is situated on coastal riverland in the Burdekin delta, 100 kms south of Townsville.

Jim and Jan Jones, with their son Travis decided to introduce Wagyu to their herd in 2000 in an effort gain a market edge by improving the quality of their meat production.

Black Gold Farms have been undertaking a breeding plan that includes Wagyu embroyo transplanting and genetics along with natural mating by Full Blood Wagyu bulls.

The Jones family have years of experience running Wagyu cattle in the northern part of Australia, and pride themselves on having well handled cattle with excellent genetic pedigrees.

Black Gold Farms have recently downsized and only maintain a small boutique stud Wagyu herd through a handpicked AI breeding program. They continue to sell young registered Wagyu Bulls for the Northern Market and environment.
